The Broads are man made wetlands. They have been made as a result of peat extraction in the middle ages. They extend from North Suffolk into Norfolk and are a major tourist attraction because of the abundant wildlife they support.
Tourism is itself a threat to the Broads. The large numbers of pleasure craft and the effluent they produce adds to the eutrophication of the Broads.
